“Frame Innovation”
How to reframe opportunities
Actionable steps that aren’t formulaic
Based on actual data on what makes innovative projects successful
There’s the frame innovation process, and then there’s the container it’s delivered in which is this book. I’m often asked by people who are new to this field and need one source to cover the most ground in a manageable sized text. This is the book I recommend. Of course I quickly say one book can’t do it all, but some people need a single point of focus and that’s cool with me.
On the other hand, if you’re already feeling pretty good about systems thinking and design research, but still want a design based anchor for the sprawling term innovation, the last bit of this book, and many shorter articles Dorst has written, is truly incredible. I deeply appreciate how each step in this process gently and productively pushes back on the stranglehold that legacy stakeholders have on status quo approaches to opportunities. And there are case studies. So. Many. Case. Studies.
